A young girl spends the summer as an intern at Lockheed, watching old stock footage of the moon. She decides she wants to let loose, so she goes to a party that will change her forever.

The story is based on Konstantine Gamsakhurdia's novel and depicts the social and political changes taking place in Soviet Georgia in the 1930s through the line of the main characters: Tarash Emkhvari and Arzakan Zvambaya.

Due to bad weather, gymnast Katya Prokhorova, going to international competitions, ends up in her hometown of Razlelsk and, arriving at the school where she once studied, meets a young singing teacher and falls in love with him. A few days later she leaves, and upon returning from the competition, she confesses to him that she has fallen in love with someone else. Time passes. The singing teacher becomes a famous composer, but does not stop loving and waiting for Katya...

This 30-minute series of images Stanley recorded while he was in Afghanistan in the late 80's with some Mujahadin rebels [and also the late war journalist Carlos Mavroleon (1958-1998), who worked as a producer], follows the people's daily attempts to survive in a country being torn to pieces by the Russian invasion. During the shooting, Stanley also encountered the Taliban. Originally made for UNICEF, the film lacks narration save for a Suti poem. Instead, it is accompanied by Simon Boswell's brilliant score.
